Polytunnels are tunnels made of polyethylene used to grow plants that require a higher temperature and/or humidity than that which is available in the environment. Polytunnels are mainly used in temperate regions. They are similar in principle to greenhouses and cloches (row covers). Modern designs allow sowing and harvesting machines to move inside the structures so as to automate production. Polytunnels have had a significant effect on the production of strawberries in the United Kingdom. Other soft fruits such as raspberries and blackberries are also cultivated in the same way.
For the commercial polytunnels greenhouse sector we manufacture our Multispan polytunnel range with multiples of 21ft6” and 26ft6” linked together to create huge protected cropping areas. For many years we have adapted our polytunnels to suit all kinds of applications, including Polytunnels used in agriculture which provide a low cost livestock housing option, we have supplied polytunnels for sheep housing ,sheep shelters, goat housing, goat shelters, poultry housing, pig shelters, duck farming , fish farming, cattle sheds, we’ve even covered a rhino enclosure. In the civil engineering sector we have adapted them so they can be used as temporary work shelters or scaffold covers. We also manufacture a low level concreting shelter to cover and protect newly laid concrete. We offer a full range of spares for our polytunnels including, UK manufactured Visqueen polytunnel covers, polytunnel spare parts and polytunnel irrigation systems.
